Keeping Betta Fish in a Water-Based Houseplant
Fish tank plants are good for everyone involved. They are a nice decoration for you, and they give your fish something to explore, hide and rest. It will make your lives more interesting.
The first thing to ask yourself when keeping betta fish in water-based indoor plant settings is whether you want to use live or fake plants. Both are fine, but you need to keep a few things in mind.
If you are using fake plants, make sure they don’t have sharp edges. Rinse them thoroughly with hot water first. Try to avoid fabric plants, as they usually have a wire that can harm your fish.
If you want to use live plants, you have two options: underwater aquarium plants that will live in the tank with your fish or plants that will come out of the tank with their roots submerged.

What types of plants does Betta Fish like?
If you want to use live plants for a Betta fish, be sure to choose safe. Java ferns and Chinese evergreen are two underwater plants that work well with betta fish.
If you want to test your tank with the Plant on Top method, peace lilies and philodendrons are good options. Remove the plant from its pot and carefully work all the soil away from the roots in a large bucket filled with water. Carefully cut the roots down to a size and shape that will fit your tank and still give your betta plenty of room to swim.
Take care of your fish as normal, changing the water as needed.
